This publication presents information concerning patterns of demographic change - including
the sources and the spatial variations in population growth/decline - as observed for Arkansas
at the state-, county-, and subcounty-levels for the years 1990-1998. Throughout the
publication, Arkansas is compared to other states in the nation. The analysis is based on the
most recent population estimates (1990-1998) produced by the U.S. Census Bureau in close
collaboration with the Federal-State Cooperative for Population Estimates. Demographic
Research at the Institute for Economic Advancement is representing the state of Arkansas
in the Cooperative.
